On 31 March, one of the most successful players of the cryptocurrency universe – Tron, issued a statement where it urged developers to restrict gambling DApps in the Japanese market to respect the local regulations.
The objective of the blockchain major is quite clear; they are taking steps to encourage activities that do not fail a country’s laws. In line with this, Tron has decided to support gambling restrictions for Japanese users since it is banned in the country.
Tron requested the developers who work with such apps that they block users having a Japanese IP address. Tron also advised Japan-based app developers to refrain from developing gambling DApps on the Tron platform.
“The company intends to adhere to local laws and regulations in the countries it works in, and hence it has decided to support gambling restrictions for Japan-based users through a series of recommendations for developers, as gambling is generally prohibited by the Japanese criminal code,” the blog post revealed.
The platform, in order to meet with the Japanese law that prohibits citizens from engaging in any gambling based activities, has had to restrict their DApps as well. The press release also publicized that Tron will work closely with the Japanese government and help them in maintaining this initiative by providing information if any Tron DApps infringe the country’s regulations. In addition to their innovative and entertaining apps, the reason behind Tron’s success is that it never fails to comply with a country’s laws and is always respectful towards them, and this is perhaps a hint towards why Tron is the world’s largest decentralized ecosystem having left behind industry giants, like Ethereum. It had earlier acquired CoinPlay, a blockchain application store, to rise as a serious contender of Ethereum.
